And write our fire in the sky

I finally listened to the new Bon Iver album, and it is really good. Sort of alienyly good, but that’s not the word. It feels like a thing that exists seperate from the world I live in , a full formed piece, like a block of that smooth, gooey non-Newtonian fluid. It’s fantastic, but sort of makes your insides shift.

And maybe this is just because I heard his cover before I heard the album, but does anyone else think it sounds a bit like an album recorded by someone who had mainlined Bonnie Raitt for years, maybe sat around listening to “Luck of the Draw” for like, hours on end, thinking about the future (I can’t be the only one who does that), but who was also friends with Kid Cudi.

I somehow could not find the song “Luck of the Draw” on the internet, which I don’t think has ever happened to me before, but its that one, though this is the closest thing I could find, from the same album:

Or maybe those two things, put together, equals this:

Or you could play all four at once, and just be wracked by woodsy lyrics, aching vocals, and steel guitar. Enjoy.
